Armchair BEA 2012: Interviews

Today marks the first day of Armchair BEA! It's that time of year again where we sit at home in our pajamas and pine about not being at BEA for one reason or another. However, this should be another fun year, and I'm really looking forward to all the posts this week! Today is the introductions days, where we pick five questions from the original list of ten and essentially interview ourselves. Sooo... here we go!

1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?

My name is Ariel and I'm a 21-year-old college student who is attending Chemeketa Community College in Dallas, Oregon with plans to become a librarian someday. I have loved reading all my life and even taught myself to read at a very young age. This blog has only been running for about a year and a half, but I've been blogging on my personal blog for about seven years now. I love writing! As far as why I got into book blogging, it has opened my eyes to new genres and books that I never would have considered without bloggers' advice. And I've met so many excellent people! I just love the community we have.

2. Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.

I have a split personality :P People will talk about me as if I'm this happy, bubbly person, which I definitely am! I'm love people and am often happy. But if I'm around people I don't know, I'm actually quite shy. I'm super out-going around my close friends :P

3. What is your favorite feature on your blog?

I don't know if this really counts as a feature, but I like that I review such a wide range of genres. While I have been posting Christian review more recently, I still consider fantasy my favorite genre, and now I also love contemporary novels. I think it's a good balance for all of my readers.

4. If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?

Jackson Pearce. No contest. She has an amazing writing style, and she's hilarious! Our conversations would be awesome.

5. Have your reading tastes changed since you started blogging? How?

As I mentioned above, I read contemporary now, and didn't before. And I read a wider range of fantasy than before. I'm still not a huge fan of paranormal fantasies, but my opinion on them is changing haha. High fantasy all the way!

Feel free to leave links to your posts below! :)

  1. Hi Ariel! Love your blog design :-) I haven't gotten the chance to read anything by Jackson Pearce yet, but her blogs are HYSTERICAL. I should probably get around to reading one of her books.

    Happy ABEA!

  3. Hi Ariel! It's nice to meet you. :) Thanks for stopping by my blog today! And you have SUCH a pretty blog! I love the design!

I'm a lot like you. I'm very bubbly and outgoing with my close friends, yet shy and reserved around people I don't know very well. It adds mystery to your personality, so embrace it! :P

  4. Hi Ariel! Nice to meet you.

I'm like you on the split personality thing! I hide my shy side so well most people don't believe I am shy.

Jackson Pearce would DEFINITELY be one of my top authors to have dinner with. (Or Maureen Johnson..or both together!) They are both so funny and have a unique style.

  5. Happy Armchair BEA Week! I love the design you have for your site...and if you're not familiar with the INSPY's, be sure to check it out if you like Christian Lit....I've judged there for a couple of years and it's always a blast...perhaps you will be interested in becoming a judge too :-D

  6. Yay high fantasy! Good to meet you Ariel, you certainly don't seem shy online, but then, I like how the internet can make people outgoing. In a crowd, I'm often the quiet one too . . . which doesn't always work for me and it's why I have Sam. (more on that later) Anyway have a good one!

  7. Eclectic book blogs are my favorite, I suppose because I read a wide range of genres - although now it seems like a lot of fantasy. I have wanted to get into some christian fiction books too, which I don't think I have read anything at all in that genre.

  9. I always love reading your blog, because I know there's going to be something new and enlightening every time and it never fails to bring a smile to my face or make me go mad with excitement over some new book I haven't heard of yet.

I always thought that I would make a good librarian as much as I love books, but deep down I've always kind of dreamed of being a writer when I was younger. I've just never had the guts to really just put my writing out there, ya know. But still, you can dream! :)

I haven't heard of Jack Pearce, but now that you've mentioned her I might need to check some of her books out.

  10. Hey Ariel!

I'm actually over at PCC...studying science. I'm sure I would do better in literature, but I really want to work in healthcare. I can relate with the personality thing. I'm like that as well. I think I come off as kind of snobby or arrogant with people I am shy around, but thank goodness for non face-to-face interaction. Blogging friends are super cool! Nice getting to know you, Ariel!

  11. I love that you review a wide variety of genres. I try to do that as well. I find that reading many genres helps to keep me from having those reading ruts so often.

Jackson Pearce is pretty fabulous! I love watching her vlogs!
